Tamso ma... Jyotirgamaya
Lighting nine candles or diyas don't mean putting things on fire... It doesn't mean chanting Go Corona Go (if you still want to put the direct special message, that's on you)... It doesn't mean to burst crackers... It doesn't mean u have to celebrate Diwali... It doesn't mean you will be converted into a Modi fan... It so doesn't mean you are celebrating any event... It is not a candle-lit dinner or party that you can dance around... naked or otherwise. It doesn't mean you have to do any slogan party or anything... It doesn't mean that you can roam on the streets.

Not one community... not one religion.. not one country has any stories of darkness legends... darkness has always been identified with ghosts, with coldness and every community equates it with depression and alien-ness. Doesn't mean it is... But it shows that every community turns to light for its solace and warmth.
It is a beautiful tribute to the invention that helped us grow when we weren't even a civilization. It is the tribute to the ultimate source of power in the world... The ball of fire... The Sun. It is a tribute to one of the five basic elements that each of us is made of... Fire.
It is the symbol of power, of warmth, of life.
So, find one reason and light those diyas for peace.
